Dystopia is an imaginary world, where the future is seen as post-apocalyptic. I am inspired by this concept experimenting with the idea of identity and the end of the world, where natural takes over artificial or vice versa.

John martins book, 'apocalypse' depicts digital fantasy landscape which portrays biblical disruption, disaster and doom in the world. Looking at sci films such as 'the matrix', looking at possible ways people have predicted the future int he past.

Artists like Kathryn Dunlevie,  use the idea of disruption in time and space through collage and manipulation of multiple photographs. For example, 'Migration'a collage which depicts two polar bears surrounded by coral, desserts and skyscrapers. Something that theoretically should not be together yet it is, a juxtaposition of language. This creates confusion for the audience, asking questions to the viewer.

In my recent works I have looked at the colour black and its ideologies, experimenting with how the viewer perceives something that is in absence of colour, gaining feedback from workshops that I take part in, on critical practice and in my studio. Re-working the human face taking features away and manipulating its form to create a mutated, metaphysical, alien like shape. I use things like a vacuum former to create shapes using plastic, changing the materiality all together. I look at distorting textures and reflections in various ways.

I have lived in Belgium most of my life, studying at an international school allowed me to have a wide view on the world and the people that live in it. different cultures, religions and personalities all combined within one environment.  This has always been a key factor in my work, looking at the world we live in. I aim to continue working on my skills throughout my artistic life to develop new ideas and ways of working in a unique way.  My passion is creating art with a 'shock factor's something which seems unusual, something which confuses the viewer rather than allowing the viewer to know everything.
